To IJ Band:
we have come a very long way guys. and i take my hat off to you sec 2s because this repertoire is really NOT easy for you guys. my first fantasia was kinda like this.. only um, all the parts that we couldn't play were all just cut off. so be honoured that you're all given the chance to play it and play with PRIDE. i think one thing we all really lack is confidence. a certain someone used to tell us this: A note played without confidence is a wrong note, but a wrong note played with confidence is a right note. the point here is not to go all out playing the wrong notes with pride (non non, that'd be bad) but to play like you're the best! the whole purpose of having concert is not just to raise those funds but also raise our CONFIDENCE level as a BAND (: we're performing to entertain the audience, no one is gonna judge us (:
so just ENJOY YOURSELVES no matter what happens that day! remember the fears you raised at camp? disappointing sir, disappointing your seniors, screwing up.. don't let all that affect you now. rather, let it drive you to play even BETTER cuz you wanna prove to them that yeah, you CAN do it. all this while your seniors have been nagging and coming down hard on you, so use this opportunity to prove that all that has paid off (: it really uplifts our spirits when we see you juniors working hard :')
HAVE FAITH GUYS! today's practice was only the way it was because we weren't focusing. EYES PEEPS, EYES! the last time i was whacked for not using my eyes was during a netball tournament against ST MARGS. i was supposed to do the throw in from the side lines but i wasn't looking so i stepped on the line and threw the ball and got penalised by the umpire and slammed by my coach. i swear i'll never forget that cuz i probably cost IJ a point or 2 :/ so the point is! USE THOSE GOD-GIVEN BEAUTIFUL EYES! never take your eyes off sir, even when you're looking at your score. use your peripheral vision! it defies physics but it is possible! it's not that difficult ^^
so just BELIEVE IJ band! because there can only be miracles when we believe (PRINCE OF EGYPT!) and there will only be IJ band when we believe (: I LOVE YOU GUYS LOADS KAY SO LET'S HAVE A BLAST OF A CONCERT TOGETHER! FANTASIA VIII ALL THE WAY!
