Hey IJ Band!
i don't know whether you all know, but i came down yesterday. bet you didn't cause i was hiding in the corner. :)
ok, anyway, you all have improved significantly since i last heard. GREAT JOB! i know that you all are feeling stressed and worried cause concert is in 2 days, but please do enjoy yourselves. i don't know how many of you can remember me telling you that your instrument is an amplifier to your feelings. if you feel sad, angry, stressed when you're playing a happy tune, it will sound sad, angry, stressed. Your instrument is a clear reflection of how you feel. so please enjoy yourselves. if you enjoy, the audience will enjoy. if you feel that you want to move with the music, please do. the audience listen with not only their ears, but their eyes.
Feeling the music can only be felt, if you want to, no one can force you to feel it. try and imagine what the composer felt when he wrote the song. what he was thinking about and his purpose of writing that song. if you understand this, you are one step closer to feeling the music! :)
Hearing the songs, Tomorrow and Finale, i felt goosebumps. don't worry, it's the good kind of goosebumps. not only in my arms, but all the way up to my neck. This is prove that you all have improved. don't feel disheartened because everything does not sound right, i'm sure on that day, you all will pull it off with a BLAST! I am very proud of you, juniors. keep the spirit within the band burning bright. many if you have improved technically and in tone wise. i was really surprised that the rate that you all have improved. keep it up!
On the concert day itself, just enjoy yourselves, have fun and create memorable memories! For the sec 1s, this is your first concert, so don't be nervous and show the audience what you've got. For the seniors, this is your time to shine, to show the audience how passionate you are about IJ band and music itself. DO YOUR BEST AND LEAVE NO REGRETS!
